Assignment Requirements
Select a twentieth century composer and provide
biographical information, and discography of major works completed.
Write a one to two page paper about the composer's
biography and discography. The paper should be typed and can
be single or double spaced.
The research paper should classify by genre or style,
by historical period or culture and describe how representative aural examples
of music are defined in the respective compsoser's music. For example
the German composer, Arnold Schoenberg is known for his use of atonality
and serialism in his compositions. A description of atonality
and serialism along with examples of works Schoenberg wrote should be
included in the paper.
The paper must be written in the Modern Language Association
(MLA) documentation format. See your English teacher or Music
teacher if you have any questions about using MLA documentation format.
Turn in a draft copy of your two-page paper
at the next rehearsal as directed by your music teacher.
Turn in the final copy of your two-page paper at the next
rehearsal as directed by your music teacher.
EXTRA CREDIT for papers that include pictures
of a composer.
